A broad range of materials constitute the construction and demolition stream, including anything used in the construction of roads, bridges and buildings. The most common materials generated are concrete, asphalt, wood, drywall, asphalt shingles, metals, plastics, vinyl, carpet, ceiling tiles, and cardboard. According to the CDRA, more than 583 million tons of C&D debris were generated in 2015. There are opportunities and challenges to recycling any of these into usable end products.
